I have attended many weddings and each one is special in its own way. One way to make a wedding unique and special is through the entertainment. Wedding entertainment can be many different forms. They can have music and that can be done many different ways. DJ’s are a popular choice, but some couples chose to have live bands. Some live bands may be rock, classical, pretty much any type of music the couple wants. Besides music, the entertainment may include a balloon artist or caricaturist. Wedding entertainment can make or break the wedding. With my own wedding, the entertainment brought the night to an early end. With my sister’s wedding, the entertainment rocked the night away!
The wedding entertainment can be a short lived experience, like with a band, or it can last throughout the entire wedding. Most couples take the traditional route and have a band that will play after dinner and the guest dance the evening away on the dance floor. Some couples chose to have light music playing during dinner to bring a classy touch to the wedding. One wedding I attended had entertainment started with the ceremony and lasted until the end of the night. The ceremony was done by an ordained minister that happened to be an Elvis Presley impersonator. He looked and sounded like Elvis, with a slight English accent. He sang Elvis songs during the ceremony, once at dinner, and a few times through the night. He handed out scarves to the ladies and danced with some of them. To add to the fun and the entertainment, the couple’s song was an upbeat 60’s song and the entire party came out in afro hair and large sunglasses dancing disco. Other more subtle forms of entertainment can include a slideshow of the couple through their years as children, teens, young adults and the beginnings of their relationship. More entertainment that falls in the traditional sense is the dollar dance, the tossing of the bouquet and the taking off of the garter.
With all the options for wedding entertainment, the guest will never be bored at a wedding. With the entertainment comes cost. Depending on what the couples budget is and what they want to keep their guest having a good time, will determine their wedding entertainment. Whatever the couple decides to do, it will certainly be etched in their minds forever!
